Synthesis gas cooler downstream of partial oxidation of heavy residual oils or other hydrocarbon substances make high demands on engineering, design and fabrication skills. There is an ongoing trend towards higher pressures and temperatures on the synthesis gas side of the steam generators, i.e. up to 100 bar gas pressure and 1500 °C gas temperature.
